G&L tech resources: Pickups

Whereas the original Legacy Bass/LB-100 from the 1990s had an Alnico V split-coil pickup sourced by Gotoh, upon reintroduction in 2013, the LB-100 now has G&L’s own LB-100 Alnico V split-coil humbucker. The Custom Shop Matador Bass even has 2 of them. These Alnico pickups are still based on the principle Leo Fender laid out when he filed for what became US Pat. 2,976,755 on January 6, 1959, where the split-coil design adds noise cancelling capabilities.
