G&L tech resources: Nuts & string retainers

The Floyd Rose Tremolo is a so-called double locking system, i.e. the strings are kept firmly in place both at the bridge as well as the nut. The Floyd Rose has only been used on the Climax series of guitars between 1993 and 1996 and on any of the post-1997 Invader models, which replaced the Climax. This 1992 Climax “XL” and 1993 Climax “plus” both have a black Floyd Rose Tremolo which is reflected in the matching color of the Floyd Rose locking nut. This Invader Plus from 1997 has all chrome hardware, as is the locking nut. To tighten or loosen the bolts one needs a 3mm Allen hex wrench, even for those G&L guitars built prior to 2005.
